Chancellor was tired of being jolted awake by loud alarms and disturbing his partner, who got up later. He envisioned a better solution, where he would wake up feeling fresh, while respecting his partner’s sleep. He couldn’t find one on the market, so he decided to build it.
Chancellor partnered with NEDlabs to develop the SilentWakeUp, a device that vibrates to wake users during the optimal part of their sleep cycle.

The project before NEDlabs
SilentWakeUp began as a concept to revolutionize morning routines. The founders recognized that traditional sound alarms disrupt sleep cycles and trigger stress responses, leaving users groggy and disoriented.
They had developed a rough prototype with another firm, but encountered roadblocks:
- The initial prototype was no longer functional
- They lacked the technical expertise to develop the electronics and firmware
- They needed a seamless user experience across a physical device and smartphone app
- Manufacturing and supply chain remained significant obstacles
How we helped
NEDlabs took ownership of the entire development process, handling everything from electronics and mechanical design to firmware and app development.
Beyond technical development, NEDlabs also managed certifications, sourcing suppliers, and manufacturing the first production run for presales and Amazon distribution.

Notable Challenges
When the original adhesive supplier fell through at the last minute, NEDlabs quickly pivoted, designing and sourcing a comfortable armband alternative that maintained the product’s core functionality.
